Master Grower/ Grow Technician

Job Description

The Cultivation Manager is responsible for managing all cultivation and growing operations and employees. Responsibilities include:

  • Managing a large scale **organic aeroponic grow systems
  • Performs all the tasks in the grow cycle, including transplanting, feeding, cloning, cropping and inventory management.
  • Hires, trains, and leads a cultivation team of 20+ employees.
  • Working directly with the dispensary teams and the Operations Manager to ensure the quantity, mix and yield of strains planted will meet patient and market needs for medicine and treatment.
  • Keeps a open mind and works in a collaborative manner.

Sets cultivation goals for the manufacturing facilities including:

  • Develops growing and greenhouse utilization plans to maximize growing efficiency for products.
  • Ensures all cultivation related standard operating procedures are followed, including inventory management, security and cleanliness SOPs 
  • Routine daily activities required to ensure plant maintenance and general operation of the cultivation areas.
  • Routine daily activities required to ensure clones and mother maintenance and general operation of the propagation room to ensure adequate crop production.
  • Measuring and reporting performance metrics and criteria with respect to cloning, potting, and other activities. 
  • Establishes and implements plans for establishing a perpetual harvest.
  • Identifies and secures new tools, equipment and items needed to implement new techniques and processes.
  • Drives improvement in planting techniques and yields.
  • Sets budget for cultivation operations at the manufacturing facility.

Qualifications

  • We're looking for a strong professional with a background in horticulture or agriculture and 10 years experience leading a large scale operation
  • Bachelors degree required. Advanced degree preferred
  • Knowledge of plants, diseases, insects and fungi, as well as plant treatment options
  • Strong leadership experience, with experience leading large teams
  • Operations management mindset and approach in leading a cultivation center
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to lift up to 50lbs, and perform manual labor tasks requirement for the management of the grow chambers.

Processing Technician

Location - Philadelphia  

Job Description

We are seeking Processing Technicians to perform cannabis harvesting, drying, trimming, and packaging operations for our PA cultivation and processing center. Each Processing Technician will be responsible for safely and effectively harvesting, drying, trimming, converting the cannabis materials into high quality products.

 

  • Learns and performs proper techniques for harvesting, drying and curing Cannabis
  • Cross-trains on and working alongside with the Processing team with the harvest, drying, trimming, weighing, and packaging of VLS broad medical cannabis product line when required. 
  • Cleans any/all production areas to ensure no cross contamination occurs.
  • Follows the SOP’s in regards to documenting your daily work on daily recap sheet. 
  • Follows appropriate control measures to prevent mixing of batches and/or weights of batches.
  • Performs in-process and post-process quality assurance testing and conducting visual inspections to ensure the product meets or exceeds VLS quality standards.
  • Aspires to learn the componants of the plant.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Performing his/her duties in a safe manner and environment while adhering to all governmental regulations for this industry.  
  • Carrying out all harvesting, drying, trimming, weighing and packaging operations in an efficient manner that also complies with all GMP’s, OSHA regulations, VLS SOP’s and all applicable required procedures.
  • Ensuring 100% compliance and accuracy involving all product tracking, product security, and product movement procedures.  
  • Following appropriate control measures to prevent mixing of cannabis strains and batches.  
  • Performing in-process and post-process quality assurance testing and conducting visual inspections to ensure all product meets or exceed VLS specifications and patients’ expectations. Such quality assurance work and reporting shall include but not be limited to:
  • Recording and monitoring process conditions to ensure compliance to standard operating procedures
  • Proper weighing, data recording, and batch tracking throughout VLS process
  • Continually strive and work with the remainder of the Production Team to improve VLS processes for improved patient safety, quality, and efficient manufacturing
  • Assist in monitoring processing supplies and inventory.

 

 

Qualifications

Education: High School Diploma or G.E.D minimum.

Age: State law requires that applicants be 21 years old and over.

Experience: The ideal candidate will have at least one to three years of manufacturing and packaging experience with a focus on ensuring product safety, consumer safety and satisfaction, and high product quality. 

Physical Requirements: Include standing, walking, bending, and lifting up to 50 pounds, carrying product totes, pushing carts, moving and making adjustments to process equipment.

Operations Manager

Location - Philadelphia

Job Description

We are seeking a hands-on Operations Manager with strong management and production experience, preferably in the pharmaceutical, food, beverage, or cannabis industries to start up and manage our Philadelphia operations. This facility will cultivate cannabis and produce high quality medical cannabis products that patients can utilize via a number of different administration methods.

The Operations Manager will lead and drive all aspects of VLS Philadelphia facility's processing of cannabis into patient safe, high quality, and effective medicinal cannabis products for registered patients. Responsibilities include:

  • Ensuring VLS/PRANA products are produced in a safe environment for our employees while adhering to all governmental regulations for this industry.
  • Ensuring all products are safe and effective for patient use. Develop and enforce proper product and work-in-process tracking, movement, product security and compliance with FDA cGMP's, OSHA regulations, and applicable laboratory procedures.
  • Lead and drive an effective and efficient startup of all operations.
  • Work closely with VLS partners/dispensaries and manage the supply chain, the operations, and inventory levels to ensure timely delivery of VLS/PRANA products.
  • Lead and drive continuous improvement, lean operations, quality improvement, and capacity expansion initiatives.
  • Effectively manage and streamline all aspects of the supply chain and each process step carried out at the facility.
  • Identify, lead, and develop talent to maximize individual, team, and organizational effectiveness to meet company goals.
  • Participate in VLS innovation programs and drive the implementation of new products.

 

Qualifications

Successful candidates will have proven experience in a medical cannabis, food, beverage, or pharmaceutical environment with a high attention to detail, organization skills, excellent communication skills with the ability to operate in a safe, detailed and accurate manner.

  • A minimum 7-10 years of proven manufacturing management and leadership experience preferably within the pharmaceutical, food, or beverage industries.
  • Bachelor's degree in a manufacturing related discipline- Engineering or Operations preferred. Degrees in other disciplines are acceptable in conjunction with suitable experience and accomplishment. Advanced degree preferred.
  • Inherently sound human resource values and problem resolution skills in combination with a history of successful talent development.
  • Demonstrated success in leading manufacturing operations to achieve improved performance and profitability.
  • Possess the financial acumen to manage, measure, and improve the operations effectiveness and profitability.
  • Demonstrated accomplishment in continuous improvement and with leading Lean Six Sigma and other manufacturing  improvement initiatives.
  • Strong communication skills across every level of the organization.
  • Ability to operate in a start up and emerging environment, and be flexible to take on new and added responsibilities per the business' growth needs.
