Production Manager

Location - Philadelphia 

Job Description

We are seeking a hands-on Production Manager with strong management and production experience preferably in the pharmaceutical, food, beverage, or cannabis industries to manage our Extraction and Formulating Department at our Philadelphia loaction. Our cultivation center will cultivate cannabis, produces high quality extraction products from raw flower material, create innovative medical cannabis concentrates, infused products. 

The Production Manager will lead and drive all extraction, formulating, and FDA spec production activities at this facility. The Production Manager will also be responsible for launching new products produced via extraction, formulating, and product preparation. Responsibilities include:

 

  • Leading and managing our extraction and formulation production team to efficiently produce high quality concentrates, pills, vapable products, and other infused cannabis medications for our patients.
  • Ensuring VLS extracted, infused, and edible products are produced in a safe environment for our employees while adhering to all governmental regulations for this industry.
  • Ensuring all products are safe and effective for patient use. Develop and enforce proper product and work-in-process tracking, movement, product security and compliance with cGMP's, OSHA regulations, applicable laboratory procedures, and State of Pennsylvania regulations.
  • Lead and drive effective efficiency, product, quality, and safety improvement initiatives.
  • Work closely with VLS dispensaries and the wholesale sales team to manage product supply, the operations, and our supply chain to ensure timely delivery of our products. Close communication and coordination with the patient facing side of our business and our commercial team is of paramount importance. 
  • Lead and drive continuous improvement, lean operations, quality improvement, and capacity expansion initiatives in our extraction, formulation, and kitchen operations.
  • Effectively manage and streamline all aspects of the supply chain and each process step carried out in our PA operations.
  • Identify, lead, and develop talent to maximize individual and team effectiveness to meet company goals.
  • Participate in VLS innovation programs and drive new product development and implementation.

 

Qualifications

Successful candidates will have proven manufacturing experience and success in a pharmaceutical, food, or beverage processing and packaging environment demonstrating a high attention to detail, and strong organizational and communication skills. More specific qualifications include:

  • Bachelor's degree in a manufacturing related discipline: Engineering, Sciences, Food Sciences, or Operations required. Degrees in other disciplines in conjunction with suitable experience and accomplishment will be considered.
  • A minimum of 7 years proven manufacturing management and leadership experience preferably within the pharmaceutical, food, or beverage industries is required. Cannabis industry experience is a plus.
  • Inherently sound human resource values and problem resolution skills in combination with a history of strong leadership skills and talent development of direct reports.
  • Demonstrated success in leading manufacturing operations to achieve improved performance and profitability.
  • Possess the financial acumen to manage, measure, and improve the operation's effectiveness and profitability.
  • Demonstrated accomplishment in continuous improvement. Experience involving Lean Six Sigma and other manufacturing improvement initiatives is highly preferred.
  • Demonstrated knowledge in managing and improving food safety, employee safety, quality, and packaging for consumers.
  • Strong communication skills to every level of the organization. 
  • Requires ability to operate in an emerging environment, and be flexible to take on new and added responsibilities in alignment with our growth needs.

Lab Technician

Location - Philadelphia  

Job Description

VLS is looking for a laboratory director to oversee all scientific operations in our on site facility laboratory. The job will include significant administrative and regulatory compliance duties.

Laboratory Technician:

• Oversee all scientific operations at the laboratory
• Oversee all scientific personnel, including hiring, training, professional development and discipline
• Ensure that all data generated by the scientific team meet quality control requirements
• Ensure regulatory compliance, including safety, environmental and documentation requirements
• Ensure an environment of open communication and continual improvement
• Identify and implement new technologies and methodologies to improve laboratory workflow and data quality
• Interact with clients to explain results and as part of marketing outreach
• Represent Rm3 Labs in regulatory and legislative meetings and hearings
• Represent Rm3 Labs in industry meetings and events
• Coordinate with operations and sales personnel to identify and address market opportunities and operational weaknesses
• Communicate regulatory and scientific developments to sales force and customers
• Ensure proper planning for growth and for technology upgrades and transitions

***Ensure all testing is non bias to uphold only the most rigorous and critical testing of our products to be sent out for further testing before making products.

Qualifications & Experience:

• Must hold an MD or a PhD in a natural science and have three years’ laboratory experience in toxicology, analytical chemistry or diagnostic testing, or a master’s degree in a natural science and five years’ such experience
• Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Must have prior supervisory experience
• Must have strong leadership skills
• Extensive experience with HPLC, GC, GC/MS and/or LC/MS/MS instrumentation a strong plus
• Experience with ISO17025, CLIA or similar certification process a plus
• Familiarity with budgeting processes and basic financial concepts such as fixed vs. variable costs, equipment financing and return on investment a plus
• Must pass an extensive background security check and must be able to obtain a Colorado Department of Revenue – Marijuana Enforcement Division key license prior to or at the time of hire
• Must have excellent references
